“What magicians we all are, turning darkness into light, transforming invisible atoms into the dazzling theater of the world….” Jane Roberts, The Magical Approach
The word magic conjures up images of rabbits jumping out of hats and pretty ladies being sawn in half. Famous mystifiers and illusionists like Houdini and David Copperfield fascinate us with their sometimes shocking ability to trick the mind into believing what it thinks it sees.. Still. while we encourage our children to believe in a magical world where fairies, wizards and witches exist, when we adults speak of magic, it is usually with tongue in cheek… for most adults, the word magic immediately suggests disbelief, an impossible feat, accomplished through some slight of hand or a well-planned trick.
“Even if you are already a witch or occultist, or otherwise believe in magic, it may be a new idea for you to apply such work in practical everyday ways. But isn’t that how it all began anyway – as a functioning part of everyday life? (the traditional role of witch in the olden times was that of a village helper. The witch supplied herbs and remedies, psychic protection.) ” Marion Weinstein, Positive Magic Occult Self-Help
What If there were a practical application for magic? What if you could somehow magically increase your income or find the right partner, or win a new car – or the lottery? I think we’d take magic a lot more seriously. Well, folks it’s time to get serious!
“The greatest illusion of all is the illusion you never notice. The greatest magic of all is the magic you never know. A retired spy once said to me, you know…not all magicians wear capes and wave sparkling wands.” – Jason Purdy (Illusionist)
Magic is one of life’s marvellous mysteries, yet even the most powerful witches’ spells are little more than ordinary actions made extraordinarily powerful by focused intent. Magic is about creative transformation. Practical Magic is applied metaphysics, a way of creating what you want and need easily, naturally, for the good of all, according to the free will of all.
It’s all about what you believe, how you think and feel… change your beliefs, your thoughts and your feelings, and magically, your world changes. Anyone – even you – can become an adept at magic – when you choose to believe that anything is possible and nothing is too good to be true.
I was first introduced to my own creative powers through the Seth books by Jane Roberts. This excerpt from The Magical Approach explains why we need to evaluate our beliefs as a first step in making magic in our lives:
“the magical approach” means that you actually change your methods of dealing with problems, achieving goals, satisfying means. You change over to the methods of the natural person.
The natural person is to be found, now, not in the past or in the present, but beneath layers and layers of official beliefs so you are dealing with an archaeology of beliefs to find the person who creates beliefs to begin with. As I have often said, evidence of clairvoyance, telepathy,. or whatever are not eccentric, isolated instances occurring in man’s experience, but are representative of natural patterns of everyday behaviour that become invisible in your world because of the official picture of behaviour and reality.” The Magical Approach: Seth Speaks About the Art of Creative Living A “How To” book on being the magician of your own life.
For the Global Psychics team, Practical Magic is about self-empowerment. We get excited about applying our metaphysical knowledge to practical applications in our lives. Thus, we have included articles on belief and believing in the Practical Magic section on the globalpsychics.com site along with insights on creating abundance, working with the power in our words and feelings, and making magic with other natural elements like candles and colors.
Yes, magic can be practical… when we are willing to re-examine our beliefs so we are open to new possibilities, to changing ourselves and then our worlds for the better. It is simply a matter of finding your inner magician.
