Well, we're off! One day down and 99 to go. Did you find a goal for this 100 day journey and begin to set it into motion? My goal is a simple one: to complete these 100 days with a blog. I tend to fall down when I set goals for myself, so it strikes me, even as I write that, that maybe, hopefully, writing this blog faithfully for the next 99 days will make a substantial change inside me and I can be transformed along the way! Woo hoo! One can only hope, right? (Or is that a bad saying? Maybe we can do MORE than hope. Hmmm...)
Anyway, yesterday I promised to give you the answer to the all-consuming question of which is the best tool for major change in the shortest amount of time (of course, I didn't frame the question that way yesterday, but that's what it is).
Okay, let's put it this way. My writing these (hopefully) great little pieces is (hopefully) motivating. Being motivated has its points, right? I mean, who couldn't use a little Rah Rah RAH in their life once in a while? But it's what we do with what we heard (or in this case, read) that determines whether or not all the SisBoomBah is really effective. After all, if you finish reading something (or hearing a great lecture or whatever) and turn from the computer to a screaming toddler whose older sibling just took their favorite toy, all that positive emotion is going right out the door. Or transforming into negative emotion. Right?
So, though motivation has its place, its benefits are not necessarily long term. They aren't what's going to get you into the future you see for yourself.
All right, then, what about Education or Direction? It can't be bad to learn something, can it? Of course not. Learning is essential in many obvious ways. But just because I know how to doesn't mean I will. Let me accentuate that last sentence this way: "How to" doesn't necessarily equal "Will do". Why is that? Because Most People DON'T DO WHAT THEY'RE TOLD, do they?! *grin* Or even necessarily Do What Is Good For Them. (Their subconscious--their belief system--is telling them what to do. We'll get to that at a later date. Remind me, 'k?) *wink*
So a How To is only going to tell you how to do something but not get you there anymore than the motivation unless you commit to doing the how to. And basically, we get stuck in our heads with this one if we think too much about the 'how to' and not enough about the 'where to'. And even that is not quite enough, is it?
Now we are at the Revelation part of our discussion. Did any of you choose this answer yesterday? Did you have a 'revelation' as to its being the best way?
Oh, I am SO tempted to wait until tomorrow to tell you about Revelation.
You know what, I am going to ask a question for tomorrow and keep the rest of this until then. Here's the question: What do you think is the difference between the first two and this last one, Revelation? What I mean is, in regard to where the effect comes from.
I hope that makes sense, cuz I'm holding off until tomorrow. (Is that cheating? Especially since I'm actually writing this all on the 100th day? Oh gosh, yes! Oh well. I'll make it up to you, you know that, don't you?) *wink*
May the answer be a revelation,
